COVID-19 Free YouTube Math Live: Ask Math Anything

Welcome to a fun and systematic tour of middle school competition math! Through an original teaching style that develops creative thinking, students will discover the rich world of math that they can build from their foundation.

This online course series is a complete learning experience, containing interactive videos exclusively taught by Po-Shen Loh himself, with embedded questions that retain attention, as well as novel practice problems, exams, and emailed score reports, with Q&A forum support from our teaching assistant team. It can be used as a daily 45-minute math course, to introduce a new world of challenging mathematical thinking.

The course series can be understood by any motivated student with a solid Pre-Algebra background (typically 7th grade math, although sometimes learned earlier by accelerated students). Thanks to the novel teaching style, the course is able to rapidly ramp up to sophisticated topics within just a few months, providing exciting challenge and insight even for more experienced students.

Course Structure

► Module 0: A sampler of the 5 main areas of mathematics: geometry, combinatorics, algebra, number theory, and probability

Module 1: Lays a foundation for Algebra, enabling students to explore more useful and deeper topics covered in this course series

► Modules 2–6: Each module will rapidly cover fundamental math competition tools used in each of the 5 subject areas

► Modules 7–11: Each module will dive deeper into the applications of each of the 5 subject areas

Note: The course sequence is designed to provide systematic coverage of concepts when taken in order. Each module starts with a prerequisite quiz and placement exam. Students who score unusually high on the placement exam can exchange their purchase for the next module in the sequence, at no additional cost, repeating this process until they find the perfect fit. We therefore recommend that all students start at Module 0 unless they already have significant math competition training, in which case they should contact us for free advice at

Course Features

► Ready-to-use: complete solution is convenient for busy families, teachers, and coaches, as students can learn on their own

► Expand horizons: a step beyond the regular curriculum, focusing on depth instead of learning concepts early

► Challenge level: comparable to MATHCOUNTS Chapter level or AMC8 / AMC10 problems

► Course presentation: engaging, creative, and challenging, with no repetitive practice

► Daily mental workout: designed to build a habit of actively thinking about math

► Self-paced learning: courses remain available to review for 365 days after purchase

► Discussion with peers: provides environment and motivation to learn more and aim higher

All courses are taught by Po-Shen Loh, a social entrepreneur who works across the full spectrum of mathematics and education, in diverse areas around the world. He is the founder of the free personalized learning platform, an education technology social enterprise which algorithmically curates openly licensed math and science lessons and problems contributed by the world. Sales of these online courses support the development of these social initiatives.

To create these lessons Loh draws from his experience as a mathematics professor at Carnegie Mellon University and also as the national coach of the USA International Mathematical Olympiad team. His research and educational outreach takes him to cities across the world, reaching over 10,000 people annually through public lectures and in-person events, and he has featured in or co-created videos totaling over 5 million YouTube views.

Professor Loh has been continually involved in math competitions since he was a contestant in the 1990's. He ranked 3rd at the National MATHCOUNTS competition in middle school, and won a silver medal for the United States of America as a contestant at the International Mathematical Olympiad in high school.
